125 Years of Racing Spirit
When Brooklands opened in 1907, it became the ultimate proving ground for motorcycle manufacturers. Indian Motorcycle rose to the challenge with factory machines and elite riders pushing the limits of early engineering at sustained high speed.
In 1911, Indian factory rider Jake DeRosier set multiple speed records at Brooklands on an Indian V-twin, becoming the first rider to lap the circuit at over 90 mph. His flying mile and kilometre records echoed around the world.
In the 1910s, Indian riders like DeRosier, Erwin "Cannonball" Baker, Shrimp Burns, and Bobby Hill delivered relentless victories across board tracks, dirt ovals, hill climbs, and endurance races. Their dominance earned them the legendary Wrecking Crew name.
"Racing wasn't a sideline — it was central to the brand's identity. From concrete banking to modern championship-winning bagger racing, Indian's competitive DNA has never wavered."
